About us

We were first concerned with prostate cancer; this cancer is very common for men. Many of us were treated (or experienced it otherwise as spouses or friends). The death of a close friend has a great impact, as does the next death so close in time! And many who are treated suffer unhappy side effects. Yet lifestyle changes (exercise, diet, and stress reduction) would reduce the number and seriousness of the cancer.

This led to the “Prostate Posse” where we participated in the Race for the Cure for breast cancer to support these thousands and thousand of cancer patients and advertise to men about healthy lifestyles and medical care.

But we wanted our own event to engage others into checkups & lifestyle changes. Yet the same actions that matter for prostate cancer prevention and recovery from treatment will matter for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and other cancers. Even with a diagnosis of prostate cancer, a man is more likely to die of heart disease.

So we developed into a “Men’s Health” committee to start the “Stampede for Men’s Health” and support men ‘s health broadly. Get out and exercise, improve your diet and stress levels; and don’t forget to get checked by a medical professional!
